  • ANXIETY

Are you feeling dread, or fear, that turns into constant worry as a response to real or perceived threats? You may be experiencing anxiety. When we are afraid, we are triggering a stress response, such as fight, flight or freeze mode.

We experience cognitive, physical, and behavioral changes, such as an increase in our heart rate or breaking. This helps us avoid danger by supplying more oxygen and blood to the muscles. However, people can also feel anxiety about things that are not dangerous, like important events or decisions, public speaking and social situations. The main symptom of anxiety is a feeling of worry. You may also have higher heart rate, breathing rate, irritability, restfulness, muscle tension, difficult concentration and or falling or staying asleep. If the anxiety is severe, we may experience a panic attack, which causes an intense feeling of dread or panic that reaches a peak before calming down. These can be hyperventilation, pounding heartbeat, sweating and or shaking / trembling, and feeling a lack of control and or impending doom.
